A permit is required for residents needing to keep any vehicle weighing over 4.5 tonnes or over 7 metres in length.

Keeping our neighbourhoods streets as free from heavy vehicle traffic as possible is a priority for Council  By requiring heavy vehicles kept on residential properties to have a permit we are seeking to: 

  • avoid excessive noise from large trucks
  • keep pedestrians and other drivers safe
  • prevent damage to footpaths, nature strips, kerbs, street pavements and trees
  • minimise fumes and related smells from heavy vehicles.

Permit charges

non-refundable application fee of $82.20 must be paid when submitting the complete application form.

Once an application is approved a permit fee of $342.20 per annum is required.

Submitting your application

Post the form with a cheque or money order to City Regulatory Services, Brimbank City Council, PO Box 70, Sunshine 3020.

Or take it to one of our Customer Service Centres where you can pay with cash or via EFT
