In-home support services

Women discussing care needs together

Our support services help you to remain active in your community. We provide practical support through encouragement and assistance to maintain and develop independent living skills.

Home care services

Home care services, including domestic assistance (cleaning), flexible respite and personal care are no longer provided by Council. Since October 2020 these services are managed through the Commonwealth Government's My Aged Care program.

For more information visit the My Aged Care website or contact them on 1800 200 422.

How to apply

For information about eligibility and to discuss your care needs, please register with My Aged Care and contact Council's Service Access team on 03 9249 4494.

Please note: waitlists may apply for services.

Meal delivery service

We provide affordable, nutritious and tasty meals to eligible residents living in Brimbank who may be nutritionally at risk, to help them to continue living independently in their own home. Meal options include soup, sandwiches, main meal, dessert, fruit and juice.

We can provide modified foods (cut, pureed, minced and moist) for people who may have trouble with swallowing. We also cater for some specific needs relating to medical conditions such as diabetes. These will be discussed with clients before starting the service.

Your individual requirements will be discussed during your service assessment.

Meal deliveries are organised to suit your needs. Our meals are delivered to your door on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9am to 1pm.

Advance deliveries can be arranged for weekends and public holidays. The frequency of delivery will depend on your individual circumstances.

A client contribution fee is required. A brief income assessment will determine this rate.

Home maintenance service

Our home maintenance and modifications service provides minor household repairs that do not require the skills of a qualified trade's person such as a licensed electrician or plumber. The service does not undertake tasks which are considered cosmetic repairs.

Safety issues are a priority and tasks can include:

  • changing light bulbs
  • replacing tap washers
  • installing smoke alarms
  • installation of grab/hand rails
  • handheld shower hose
  • ramps
  • step modifications.

The service delivery team will contact you to organise a visit time and to discuss your service plan and fees.

Before we install modifications, an Occupational Therapist will need to visit your home to:

  • assess your individual needs
  • make recommendations
  • provide us with details such as diagrams and measurements.

Depending on your income, there is a fee to cover the labour for the service and an additional cost for any materials.
