Container Deposit Scheme

Victoria Container Deposit Office

Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme is a new initiative by the Victorian Government that provides a 10c refund for every eligible drink container returned to a collection point.

The scheme is funded by the beverage industry. Once containers are returned, they become material for recycling.

Most aluminium, glass, plastic and liquid paperboard (carton) drink containers between 150mL and 3 litres are eligible.

  • You can keep the lids on.
  • Containers must be empty and in good condition.
  • Do not crush containers. Look for the 10c mark on the drink container label. It is often located near the barcode.
  • Visit to check if your container is eligible.
